Benchmarks GoDaddy Cheap VPS Benchmark

    I had purchased a VPS with following config from GoDaddy for ~$150 for 2 years:
    • 1GB RAM
    • 40GB SSD
    • 1vCPU
    • 2TB transfer
    Now, the renewal is approaching and they are asking ~$350 for 2 years to renew it, while offering a fresh VPS with 2GB RAM @ ~$180 for 2 years, it's time to look at alternatives.

    However, I thought it's a good idea to benchmark the performance so as to make a wise decision. Here are the results.

    Does it mean although I've been allotted only 1 vCPU, I can scale upto 24?

    2. I talked to support team this morning to understand the difference between my current VPS and new double-RAM VPS that they are offering. He told me that my current plan is on HDD, while new one uses SSD. Now, I'm sure I was offered SSD at the time of purchase, so he re-verified and again said the same thing. Considering this, doesn't the I/O speed look high?

    I think the person is misinformed. But, I don't trust them anymore if they can sale SSD and provision HDD instead.

    Don't pin to much on benchmarks.
    VPS servers are shared servers and therefore subject to whatever your (busy) neighbors do.

    For example,if you take option "fresh VPS with 2GB RAM" even within the same provider.
    Then the bench results can suddenly be quite different.

    Because you have a big chance of coming to another node with other neighbors
    (To your advantage or to your disadvantage).

    That's why you should choose a good provider that doesn't oversell much.
    With a good reputation.

    GoDaddy's offer which is much more expensive than a new fresh VPS server is not correct.

    Try to keep customers crazy with offers like that. Would mean to me; exit GoDaddy.

    In addition, with an owner (now a shareholder) who shoots exotic animals for pleasure only,
    you shouldn't do business anyway in the first place, on the ethical plane.

    Yeah though still useful when combined with server usage monitoring i.e. cpu steal % is useful to monitor too over time

    Produces similar processor info 24 times. Looks like I'm on a server without much load, but constrained by RAM.

    GoDaay is simply No Go from now. Now have to decide between Linode and SSDNodes. Since, none of my sites are critical, so I think SSDNodes's cheaper offering would be OK.

    What would you recommend between two annual plans of SSDNodes: RAID10 [email protected]$10/mo and RAID [email protected]$14/mo?
    Both are offering 16GB RAM and 80GB storage with 4vCPU.

    looks like shared cpu utilisation on your VPS plans but they would artificially limit you to that 1 cpu utilisation I suppose.

    ssdnodes NVMe just to get guarantee'd Intel Xeon Scalable Skylake cpus as non-NVMe have possibility of older Intel Xeon E5 series
