Wordpress Load Google Fonts Local (the easy way)

I always liked the Google fonts but disliked the fact that it slows down my sites and you can see when the fonts are loaded into your theme because the complete fonts change at once.

A good solution for this is to host your Google fonts locally, but if your running out of time there is a good and quick solution for it. It's the plugin CAOS for Webfonts, it has only a few installs but it works great and should be one of the plugins that needs to be installed by default on CMM. You can even disable the pre-connect of google fonts in Autoptimize, after the install of the plugin you won't need it anymore.

We already have Autoptimize installed by default and with the CAOS plugin, we can use the Autoptimize to disable the loading of the google fonts completely. Just follow the instructions of the plugin and enjoy your quickly loading site with this great plugin. You get to see your favorite font at once without waiting for the Google font to load.

One more step to get our WordPress even better, more to come! Now I'm trying to find out how to host other js locally to speed things even up better.

Don't know if they are the same type of font's. But if so, will test it. Like the font that I have now on my theme

 

Be careful though: font-display is not fully supported yet!
