Hi @eva2000 , just wanted you to know I tried a migration from my production server to the el8 beta with Rocky Linux 8.6

Custom XF2 install with elastic search, PHP8.1 and all the configs needed to run my forum.

So far alla seems to work great, haven't run in any issues.

Going to test some more but it is looking very good so far.

If you would like to try it out yourself, let me know.

    PS:
Imported DB was MariaDB 10.4, beta server runs 10.6.
I use mydumper/myloader for backups and it seems to work without issues (going from 20.4 to 10.6)

Although I understand that there are shortages in compatible servers and this may be one of the reasons for running hot off the press, CMM8 beta software as brand-new hardware is not EL7 compatible, so neither does CMM7. For other readers. Never run fresh fish beta software on production unless there is no other way.

FYI: I migrated my production data to a test server. I will not use this in production, way too soon :)

I know. That's why it was addressed to 'other readers'.
But I take it you picked a nice fast, new workhorse at Hetzner? Which model became the lucky one?

I ran this test on a Netcup VPS. Rented that for a test and has some months left.
(Wouldn't recommend Netcup BTW, Hetzner gives you more bang for your buck).

New production server will probably be an EX100 or AX61.

Pfff nice shiny hardware :) hot!
I thought precisely Netcup provided a lot for little?
Although never tested and did read that they were recently acquired.

But tell they provide a lot of virtual CPU's, memory and hard disk but throttling the hardware to the damn bone?

On paper it looks great but check just compare my install time results...

Ah, that makes it clearer - you migrated production data to a test server :) Thought you moved your production site to EL8 heh. Yes, usually my next logical testing step is to test production data on a test server. So let us know how it goes long term wise :)

Particularly interested in how CSF Firewall CSF Firewall - CentminMod.com LEMP Nginx web stack for CentOS holds up in EL8 and higher.
    Nice and fast :)

Yeah from my extensive benchmark tests compared to Centmin Mod install time reports, both track fairly well as performance indicators. So faster Centmin Mod install time, particularly for the Nginx and PHP-FPM reported initial install times, indicates server performance in general.

Should run fine as EL8 is supported for years now.
Higher: EL9 is supported only for days as of now
and as the default iptables is deprecated since EL9.

Am very curious how it runs there, although my preference is always for a hardware firewall sitting in front of the server in question.

Yeah EL9 and CSF Firewall will need more testing to ensure it works as intended :)
