Now that Microsoft is no longer going to support custom domain email handing, I need to find another cost-effective solution. What do you all use for mail handling?
I'm thinking maybe I could set up a separate Digital Ocean droplet specifically for email? I run a small network of sites, so it isn't as simple as paying Google $50 for a single domain. I'd have to pay for 6+ domains every year.
    I'm open to suggestions!

Hi @josh i also have problem with email config with vps, in my opinion it's not easy to setup and manage own mail server, but i have little simple trick with DNS level.
Currently i also have share hosting with cpanel (off course), you can create addon domain (@share hosting) and point your mx to share hosting then create forwarder for example to gmail (then you can create mail alias also in gmail) hope this will help.
In my experience using zoho is not comfort since a lot of missing incoming email so i got this stupid little trick, there is a lot of cheap share hosting out there and please make sure you may create addon domain.

    Cheers.
