ecommerce, other application how to Scale Horizontally

I read some articles about scaling ecommerce like Prestashop or it's forks like thirtybees.

In Thirty bees there is a nice article. Maybe little bit in general not very technical one with some examples how to implement.

I know that you had used Amazon AWS and route53 which is cheap pay as you go.
You you use Cloudflare.

I am wodering how you @eva2000 and Guys deal with databases?
Galera there are problems with orders numbers - at least in Prestashop.

What do you use or what you can recommend?
Maybe some interesting posts or articles.


1. geoDNS - here I wrote AWS or Cloudflare it is clear
2. database - here are question what to use
3. files - how you sync diffrenet server or you use some clusters, clusting mehods
4. speed do you make any addicational things like: Do you use HAProxy ? varnish anything else? like additional VPS? or route connections.
