Thought I'd start the discussion on this. Some folks has suggested Centmin Mod needs an uninstall routine as opposed freshly reloading the CentOS operating system.

Centmin Mod install part source compile + RPM install via YUM repositories, so a clean uninstall for source compiled parts would be dependent on respective source configurations and what they define to clean up on 'make clean'. The reasons for source compile are outlined in FAQ 18 at http://centminmod.com/faq.html and will definitely NOT be changing anytime soon especially for Nginx and the custom module set it provides for.

Ask yourself, how many times over the past year or so, have you upgraded Nginx, PHP-FPM etc as opposed to needing the option to just uninstall Nginx and PHP-FPM ? Sure Centmin Mod instaled RPMs can be uninstalled either via YUM or RPM commands so that isn't a problem.

It takes anywhere between 2 to 30 minutes to reinstall CentOS freshly especially on VPS or dedicated server with web hosts offering automated image rebuilds and/or via IPMI/KVM console or VNC headless.

There's also web hosts like DigitalOcean VPS and Linode.com which offer snapshot backups, you can take a snapshot of your fresh virgin OS install and revert to that snapshot if you wanted to as well.

Would folks like to see an uninstall routine if it will delay and slow down development of other Centmin Mod to do features http://community.centminmod.com/threads/centmin-mod-to-do-list.7/ ? FYI, once .07 beta becomes stable, I go back to my time allocation for working on Centmin Mod which is a few hours 1 day per week schedule.

Let the discussions and suggestions begin :D

No need for Un-Install, yes rebuilding or re-installing the server is just very quick except for those just very few dedicated host.

In all the time I've been using centminmod, I've never needed to uninstall anything, it's always been an upgrade. If your OS is to the point where you are needing to uninstall the whole web stack, it's going to be a lot cleaner to re-install the whole OS.

No, this is a waste of time. Centminmod is commonly used on a VPS, and re-installing those is pretty easy.
