Would love to hear opinions on how the various CPU optimized products from DO/Vultr stack up versus dedicated machines?

My assumption would be that a decent spec bare metal dedicated box will always beat these CPU optimized machines (all other things being equal), but I don't want to make that assumption.

    Thoughts/experiences?

    Performance for Wordpress with Centminmod:

phpbench in seconds / request per second
    DEDICATED-
    Hetzner EX52-NVMe - 3.28 / 3500
    Hetzner EX62-NVMe - 4.7 / 3600
    Hetzner AX41 (not NVMe) - 3.2 / 3200 (AMD Zen2)

    VPS-
    Upcloud AMD 2CPU - 4.1 / 2200-2600 - 20 USD (AMD Zen2)
    Vultr 1CPU1GB - 6.1 / 2400 - 6 USD

With dedicated you get clearly more bang for buck, with VPS you get backup/scaling/uptime benefits included in the price or you can buy it easily. Probably something else as well, this is how I use them.

Get outta here with that common sense reply :)
You're absolutely correct of course - I guess I'll just jump in and do some testing :) Giving one of these bad boys are good test over the weekend.

I fixed a small copy paste error from above message. More precise results are here: Wordpress - WPPerformanceTester Results

The link eva2000 posted of his own, much more throughout and professional testing is interesting read.
