CentOS 7.x yum update fails - centos 7.4 packages

      yum update --disableplugin=priorities --enablerepo=remi

      had this to offer to me today... :-(

    those are CentOS 7.4 related packages so looks like some of the updates coming through CentOS 7.x - CentOS Linux 7.4 (1708) Release will have to investigate

    what about simple yum update with the other flags

    FYI, CentOS 7.4 hasn't been officially released yet so those packages you get for update shouldn't be available yet.

    I'd rather not risk it on the live server now....will use the dev server and be right back...

    no just run yum update and when asked to update answer = no and post the output from yum update including the listed packages that have updates

    I think you need to wait 72hrs to yum updates as CentOS 7.4 is soon to be released seeing as CR repo available updates are gone now for me which suggests CentOS 7.4 is coming soon for official release. And it seems only some of CentOS 7.4 packages are propagated to some CentOS mirrors and others haven't, so what happens is some CentOS 7.4 yum packages listed available for update can't update as their CentOS 7.4 dependent yum packages haven't fully made it into yum update mirrors yet.

    Try doing a "yum clean all" and try again. I was having the same issue because my server could see the openssh-server update but didn't know about the required openssl-libs package (1.0.2k). Clearing the yum cache sorted it out.

    yeah yum clean all didn't work for me but now it does, just guess it depends on the mirrors

    Just started a new run in the same manner like yesterday...and so far it seems flawless. No errors! :)
    Mirror mirror on the...eeehm...i mean...yes...obviously they were guilty. :-py

    yum, centmin, imagick...all in a role...nice, fresh and clean! :)

    Yeah CentOS 7.4 updates can be problematic if yum mirrors aren't fully propagated :)

    That is actually why i always hesitate to upgrade/date...like seen today with the mariadb issue...and that's actually not a bug...it's a tyrannosaurusCentOS.

    So it may be advisable to not just run for any yum update there is?
    ...i get that yum update-notification at least once a week.

    Generally it should be fine, but like MariaDB bug there's no reason why MariaDB would need ProtectSystem=false when tmpdir is set to /home path so could be a bug.
