CentminMod.com Web Push Notifications Tests

The official centminmod.com web site will be testing the roll out of web push notifications to select web browsers such as Chrome, Firefox and Safari. The sites' visitors would need to opt in and subscribe to web push notifications themselves via a subscribe icon which will show up in the bottom right corner of the web site page.

Currently, web push notifications will be only available via HTTPS secured version of centminmod.com web site which is a requirement by web browsers. If all goes well, I will be seeing if I can roll this out on this community forum as well

centminmod.com web push rolled out

Site wide roll out of web push has been made on HTTPS version of the site at https://centminmod.com. Web push notifications will only work in Chrome, Firefox and Safari web browsers right now.

As most traffic to the site is still on HTTP, I am also testing forced 302 redirect from HTTP to HTTPS for just the Getting Started Guide page at http://centminmod.com/getstarted.html and the auto prompt to allow notifications instead of the subscribe icon in bottom right of the page.

 

FYI, 1st web push notification for folks subscribing to web push alerts on this forum was sent out today regarding Nginx 1.11.2 release. Notifications will be delivered at custom delivery time of day = the time of day you last visited the forums
