centminmod.com DNS updates

Just a heads up in next few days, centminmod.com domain will be switching DNS providers. Moving the domain's DNS nameserver management from DNSMadeEasy to Amazon AWS Route53 so as to take advantage of latency and GeoDNS based DNS services that Route53 offer at a much cheaper price point than DME's US$660/yr per domain for Geo location based DNS !

With AWS Route53 and 1 hosted zone and 10 million GeoDNS queries per month, it would cost ~US$90/yr versus DME's US$660/yr

It's unfortunate as DME has faster DNS than Route53, however the cost for GeoDNS is too high compared to Route53. DME is actually faster than Cloudflare's DNS if you exclude Singapore location where DME falls behind and ruins it's average speeds.

Talking about pricing looks like I also get charged for non-AWS health checks with fast interval checks at $2 per health check, so for 15 servers, that's 15x2 = US$30/month or US$360/yr AWS | Amazon Route 53 | Pricing ! Might need to do use regular checks (30s) and not fast interval checks (10s) at US$0.75 per basic check = 15x 0.75 = US$11.25/m or US$135/yr. Still ends up cheaper than DNSMadeEasy, Route53 US$90 + $360 or US$135 = US$225/yr with regular health checks or US$450/yr with fast interval checks.

hmm that puts centminmod.com and community.centminmod.com operating costs at roughly US$3,900 per year for hosting and dns/domains/licensing costs ! Good time to pimp my Centmin Mod Premium User Membership if you want to support Centmin Mod
