Can xenforo send an email on centminmod without a mailing server like rackspace?

So I noticed that centminmod does not come with a mailing server, however when I add an email on my domain "admin@domainname.com" and try registering, I do indeed get an email from that mailing adress in my inbox, even though I never created that email adress anywhere, does this mean that xenforo comes with a built in mail server and I can add whatever email I want to send out the xenforo related emails?

Sorry if that's a really stupid question.

@derpyhooves Where did you 'add an email on my domain' ? You mean to contact field in Xenforo for admin@domainname.com hosted elsewhere ?

I believe if I understand correctly, what you experienced is Centmin Mod and default postfix and PHP mail sending which is configured on initial installation of Centmin Mod. Xenforo sent that email through PHP's mail function via postfix. So all Xenforo mail functions for sending email will work.

Just for receiving emails at @yourdomain.com emails you need to setup a 3rd party provider as discussed at Email - Free @yourdomain.com Email Accounts & Alternatives and outlined at How to setup free @yourdomain.com Email Accounts with Outlook Live Domains

Thanks for the information, that's pretty much what I meant yeah, I set the sending field to "admin@mydomain.com" and the contact field to my normal hotmail adress, should work fine right? I tried to do the outlook live domain thing last night but every time I tried to log on it threw out an xml error page, so I thought i'd try it like this, seems to work fine...
