    Have to say I have not been very excited about any Black Friday 'offers' in the real world (here in the UK) it's got a very desperate edge to it and it's now over a full week here. We got the BF 'phenomenon' a few years back but the UK retailers have already killed it, many people are simply switching off from the 'hype'

    hihi didn't take any of the IT related black Friday deals this year.
    Got some 4 pair of clothes but that's something else haha and always needed or useful if you have a walking closet just like me and my gf. :)

    It was more of the same IT related black Friday deals this year. Already got it or didn't need it.
    And as Linode, Vultr, Digital Ocean et al did not participate in black Friday it is kind of useless.

    I ended up picking up 2 of these servers for $46.86 each at midnight. Looks like you got to the deal after they increased the price (which was a little sneaky).

    Though, I noticed that the same server is available on Soyoustart for $59 a month. So, OVH's 'huge' sale was a great deal at OVH which is normally $79 but not so great compared to the same server at SYS - assuming that it's the same hardware, which it appears to be.

    I saw that and thought it was because the servers were going so fast. $46 is super cheap for a dedicated server with 32 GB of RAM and 4 cores. I love the fact that the price is for the lifetime of the server. They've done other deals in the past where the price was only good for the first 3 months.

    Yeah so glad as always wanted high cpu clocked server for centmin mod install testing. Saving 5-10mins per install for 100s of installs = saving alot of time :)

    My question is how is the server going to compare to openssl times with the v3 Xeon chips? I read there was a huge jump in time from the E5 v2 to v3. How do the i7 chips compare for a production server?

    Looks like for non-hardware assisted ECDSA and RSA 2048/4096, the I7 4790K high clock allows it to match new Xeon E3-1240v5 but for hardware assisted AES-NI AES256, the E3-1240v5 is 50% faster

    That doesn't look too bad compared to the E3. Wonder what the differences are between the E5. I was still thinking about getting one of OVH's enterprise servers for my higher traffic sites.

    due to 32 cpu threads versus 8 cpu threads = ~2.4x times faster for non-hardware assisted RSA 2048 and ECDSA but lower hardware assisted AES-NI probably due to clock speed E5-2630v3 at 2.4Ghz. Would be interesting to see E5-2630v4 !
