    Hi guys,

I'm not an experienced sysadmin so I'm looking for ways to backup my linode VPS and I'll be happy if you can answer my questions.
First at all I'd like to save backups on a separated server and give cPanel users an option to see the backups which have been taken and restore them so I thought in Backupsy.
    I'm thinking of the following:
    1. Sign up for a Backupsy VPS
    2. 512MB Memory Upgrade for R1Soft ($4/month)
    3. Buy a R1Soft license on R1SoftStorage - R1Soft Storage and Cheapest Licenses in the World!
    5. Configure backups to save them on Backupsy VPS

Then, I'd like to give to the cPanel users an extra option to save the backups where they want using cPProtect (they can save their backups on Dropbox for example)

Do you think there is a best solution? I find this the cheapest and faster way to enable remote backups on my VPS

    Thanks!

Wouldn't it be better to post this on the cPanel forum? They'd probably have more insight about the best solution for your setup.

I trust on small forums where experienced people post and not cPanel forums where anyone can post and suggest. On cPanel forums I wouldn't be surprised if I get private messages offering backups solutions

@Claudio I guess reason @Jimmy suggested as this forum is specifically tailored for non-cpanel environment via Centmin Mod LEMP stack installs for Nginx + PHP-FPM + MariaDB + CSF Firewall and tailored for folks in non-shared hosting environments where there's just 1 user using the server = the root admin. So the type of users on here would be non-cpanel based.

But backupsy could be one method for external backup storage, but how do you intend to isolate each user so they have only access to their backups and not other folks ?

You'd probably need to write your own backup scripts to backup just the user's file + mysql + email (if you store emails on same server) to save and transfer to backupsy. I wouldn't rely on cpanel's own internal backup system as it's resource hungry for backups and restores unless you have ample server resources.

You can always try webhostingtalk.com. From the looks of your question, you're asking more about how a backup can be integrated with cPanel (for your users).

What @eva2000 said is very true. Even if Centmin Mod had multiple users, the two setups are completely different and would employ different methods for what you want to achieve. Might want to search online for a smaller cPanel forum if the main cPanel forum isn't somewhere you want to post your question.

Thank you for your answers. cPRemote allows to backup each cPanel account separately and send the backups to another server. They will be stored on the folder you specify and each user backup will be on a separated folder

Hey @eva2000 - any chance you have found any time to expand upon the backup scripts for premium users? Would LOVE to see config backups and /home/nginx/domains/* backups etc.

    Edit: I read something about cmbackup.sh ?

Not yet, 123.09beta01 to stable is the priority right now given my time constraints :)
