I have droplet on Digital Ocean - my forum
    If I buy Ramnode VPS:
    OpenVZ SSD-Cached - 128MB CVZ 128 / 64 MB 1 Core 1 /64 80 GB 500 GB $15 / yr
Could I Install just Centos (or something else) there and use that VPS just for backups (files and database) using rsync or something like that?

Backupsy | Cheap Backup VPS, Cheap Storage VPS is also cheap, with 40PERCENT40% Off For Life Coupon 40PERCENT.
With ramnode $15/yr, yes that can work also.
But having 12 GB only for storage, CentOS 6 alone consumes more than half of that.

And I have to install CentOS 6.x there and setup rsync there. What else?

So, install centmin mod there (they have only centos 6) for VPS 128MB
Any steps to do from getting started guide then?
Is it OK if I stop this services (do I need them at all?)?
    Code:
    service php-fpm stop
    service mysql stop
    service memcached stop
    service pure-ftpd stop
    chkconfig memcached off
    chkconfig php-fpm off
    chkconfig mysql off
    chkconfig pure-ftpd off

Still BackupSy is cheap compare to Ramnode, since you only need more storage.
I'm paying $6 USD per month for 250GB storage.

And by the way, I'm not using Rsnapshot anymore as it consumes a lot of disk space.
I'm just using rsync and some small bash scripts plus Eva DBbackup :).

that's why you get more disk free space :D
you could skip it, but most of my backup servers also double as vps servers that's why

So, can I just instal Centos 6.x and setup rsync or something similiar and use that server just for backup/restore files and database from DO droplet?
