Even it's second / third hand hardware... that price is a ripoff. Normally, the prices on that site are "supposed" to be cheaper. Oh well, I guess OVH is in the business of making money. I'm guessing the newb who wants to setup that gaming server is going to get taken, unless he does some research. The worst is that $69 setup fee... that's like throwing away money.

Of course, karma has gotten me. After I made the post about SOS / OVH my server (cloud) went down. It's been down for about 6 hours. Karma is a bitch.

    OVH Tasks

    I'm still offline.

    We'll haven't tried their Cloud/VPS myself.
I'm always leasing their Dedicated servers.
How many hours of downtime now?

Awhile. I think it has been around 6 hours. I hope to get a credit because of the 99.9% SLA.

I've always had a dedicated myself. But since I was preparing to move to centminmod, I cancelled my $150 a month server and went to the cloud VPS for $57 until I made the move. I have to also upgrade my IPB forum to the newest software, which I'm in the process of creating a template.

I think their Cloud offering is somewhat cap/limited in some ways like Disk I/O.

The cloud hasn't been that bad for the price. Though, I hate the 100 mbps. But besides that, it's been pretty stable running cpanel and 1 forum. It's just a stopgap until I upgrade my forum and move to centminmod. Better than paying $150 a month.

@RoldanLT how the setup running for you?

@eva2000 just got an email today about the SLA. At the end of the week I'll be getting another email which outlines the credit I will receive. One thing about OVH they're on top of their SLA. This is the second time I've got a credit. OVH has been the only hosting company I've ever got a credit from... of course, not sure if that's a good or a bad thing. ;)

    Few I noticed:
Nginx upgrade on Linode 4GB plan, it takes 3-5 minutes to compile but on my current server it only takes 20-50 seconds :).

Installing addon on XF, with Linode it takes 2 minutes average, considering I have 40+ addons, 100+ customized template and languages.
But on new server it only takes less than 10 seconds :D.

Using Eva dbbackup script, usually it takes 120-200 seconds to take full backup of all my database, now it only takes 15-20 sec :D.

I received similar credit also last year :).
OVH really follows about SLA ;).

With Linode some downtime, they didn't even add credits to my account.

Excellent to hear. (y) I think I might end up getting one of those instead of the Enterprise Level Severs next week.

I also like the fact that Anti-DDoS Game has Two-way mitigation of L3, L4, and L7. Anti DDoS Pro doesn't.

I have disable Game Server Firewall as I don't need it, and afraid that might cause me issues :).

I didn't even realize you could disable the firewall if you wanted too. I don't remember seeing that when I had the dedicated server. Good to know.

Are you using Sucuri Security — Website Security, WAF, Website AntiVirus instead? I wonder how OVH's DDoS protection compares to other services?

I can disable the Game Firewall.
But not the OVH DDOS protection.

    I'm using Cloudflare now.
I've use also Sucuri before, and they are really good at layer 7 protection.

OVH DDOS protection is superior in terms of Layer 3/4.

    Raid 0 - you're a gambling man. :cigar:

Any reason why you went with XFS vs. ext_ ?

Raid 1 vs Raid 0 setup is half way on performance, I swear I've tested it.
I think CentOS 7 default to XFS.
I've read also that XFS performs better than EXT4.
