Amazon SES was working great for 9 days. Came home today to a huge email error log and my daily digest for my forum kicking out all kinds of errors. 9 pages of email errors / not sent emails. Keep getting a 421 error on test sends... some send, some get the error.

Had to switch over to reliable Mailgun. More expensive, but always works.

421 error googled = "421 Too many concurrent SMTP connections" you hit Amazon SES rate limits ? I'd contact Amazon SES and request a higher rate limit - check your SES stats

I already increased the rate limit, I'm at like 14 emails a second.

I'm wondering if OVH is blocking port 587? I have the FW in permanent mode. I put it in auto mode to see if that makes a difference. Otherwise, I can switch to port 2525 which mailgun uses as an alt to 587.

yeah unfortunately you can't drill down into the metrics any further heh

You probably need to just request to increase your rate limit. Mine is set at 250k emails/day and 50 emails/s

Put in the request to Amazon. They gave me the same level as you. So, I'm going to switch back over and see if Amazon works again.

Things seem to be working good now that I moved to Mailgun and am using their alt TLS port of 2525.

Do you by change know how to setup a rule in the OVH firewall not to block outgoing on port 587? Since I keep the server in permanent mode, OVH firewall could be blocking that port since I send out a lot of emails at once. Some threads have 200+ subscribers.

I believe if you use established that's for outbound.

I thought you used OVH firewall. I'll have to research how to set that up. Thought you might've known.

    OVH support. LOL! You're funny.

Things seem to have calmed down. Not getting anymore errors now that I have the Firewall on auto and using Mailgun on port 2525. Might switch back to SES to see how that goes. Mailgun is pricey @ $30 a month for me for 1 website.

Why not Sparkpost? It's free for 100K emails.
