    If you install Alma from the ISO image, you should not select auto partitioning, but create all partitions yourself.


    If you use auto partitioning with any CentOS like Linux ISO installer, you get a / and a /home partition. This is not Alma exclusive nor Hetzner exclusive.

    The issue is I remember the days when the Linux packages did that anyway, and you had to specifically SET a separate home partition. In fact, the CentOS 7 install routine they have does NOT make a separate /home partition.
    Then you have the issue of "special" partitions that an install ISO may "need". It's easy enough to go through the automated and then check the structure, eliminate the /home if you don't want it and re-allocate that space into your / location.

    I honestly expected it do more of a walk-through than it did...

    Final review.. if you want to do any REAL world stuff... avoid Amazon Light Sail. Better solutions out there (Hetzner being at the forefront for bang for the buck currently).
