If you ask me. Linode is the best choice for any VPS solution, cost benefit wise.
    About the DDOS network thing.

    All providers get attacks.
As the Linode network is heavily upgraded (and with even more transit upgrades in the near future).
Their network seems at least at the same level as Digitalocean, Vultr etc.

They have a really nice management UI. Linode is lacking from that.. I know it doesn't make your VPS run better, but.. :D

UI in terms of design of the panel from Digitalocean, Vultr, Amazon ok.
But not management. The Linode VPS panel does have a lot more options. And so you can run you VPS tuned. For example you even can't run your own kernel at Digitalocean.

Handy, integration & migration to AWS I guess is the keystone here.

I can't recall who said this, but I thought it was on the money.

In response to, do I need aws?
"If you have to ask you don't, if you do, then you know how complex it is."

I keep meaning to spend a few weeks on the lambda thing, for 'serverless' backends. I like AWS because you don't pay for stopped time.

These 'lite' then, budget wise they are spot on and will certainly appeal to many. Because let's face it most websites out there don't care if it's a 1234 or 5678 processor. They see $ or marketing and that's enough of a measure, sometimes not even that... A chap I entertain in a club, he's the IT whizz, ex big blue. Run's the club site; a 99% UK residence, on a server from west US. Believes he's on a dedicated box, because he can login. When the co behind it only offer VPS and it's dog slow. :cigar:

Indeed it's a good introduction into getting onto AWS platform.

I use AWS Lambda for forwarding my Geo Latency based DNS AWS Route53 health check alerts via AWS SNS to a dedicated Slack Channel :)

So not for critical apps, but read today; old news, but hey, now in 5 more regions.
Europe, US East, and US West – Frankfurt, Ireland, London, Ohio, and Oregon.

Amazon Lightsail now available in 5 additional Europe, US AWS Regions

I was thinking about one for a VPN and as previously mentioned dipping ones toe into the beast that is aws.

For VPN based VPS usage, Vultr.com is actually pretty decent as it has a pretty good network provided their region locations close to your location if VPN speed is important. The CPU and resource contention on AWS Lightsail, probably not ideal for VPN usage and speed.

For those who don't know Mr Imbriaco (I recalled he had to do with big boys) and my memory served me right.
He was a factotum for DO and seems like Bezzos is paying him top dollar.

I tend to make use of Bandwagon which I could grab it for 6 bucks a year..its 128 mb Ovz in Orlando with half tb of bw.

Also use Atlantic.net who provides me 255 mb kvm for 1 buck.

Both have a decent latency and dirt cheap

    Thanks didn't know that !
Yeah for VPN speed it's relative to your location though :)
