    Hi all,

I previously had my site running under a WHM backed VPS.
My domain is registered at GoDaddy
    - I have my name servers setup as vanity servers (ns1.silvertails.net & ns2.silvertails.net)
    - These name servers point to my server IP address

Now I ran the NSD setup via centminmod and my site is pointing correctly on my server. I want to setup mail however and to do this I need to update the SPF and the MX records (I am hosting email free via zoho). I have changed these in the zone file and I am waiting for the DNS to propagate.

Now with that said I have been doing some more reading, and it seems this is probably not the most ideal setup, particularly that now my DNS is hosted on my server.

Would it be better for me to remove my vanity name servers and the NSD setup and instead simply set all of the DNS directly in GoDaddy therefore hosting the DNS there?

If so, how do I go about removing all the NSD and DNS records?

Also simply setting an A record to my IP should point it all correctly?

    Cheers
    Dan

Ok after testing with another domain I see I can just point the A records and everything should work.

However does this mean I can simply get rid of the vanity name servers, push all my DNS back to GoDaddy nameservers and update the A record, then disable NSD on my server?

Once NSD is disabled I assume it won't handle the DNS and all should be fine?

Excellent got it all up and running with DNS hosted back at GoDaddy and mail hosted at Zoho

seems to be running fast. I did a fair bit of tuning on php-fpm and nginx as I have 3 core and 4GB RAM
