I've got a couple servers that are CentOS 7 and I'm really not looking forward to having to deploy a new VM with Alma 8 or 9.

Is there an in-place upgrade that works? Any recommended way to go about this without having to start from scratch and just move everything over?

For Centmin Mod and CentOS 7, your options are outlined at https://community.centminmod.com/threads/centos-7-end-of-life-eol-june-30-2024.25589/

That said, I have privately tested CentOS 7 to AlmaLinux 8 to AlmaLinux 9 via in-place upgrade via AlmaLinux Elevate, and while that worked, no long-term testing has been done, so future issues are unknown. For most of my paid clients who hired me to migrate CentOS 7-based Centmin Mod and non-Centmin systems, i.e., cPanel to AlmaLinux 8 or 9, the 100% safe way is to migrate to a new server rather than run in-place upgrades.
